Kidney Stone Relief

There is some evidence that kidney stones run in the family. If you have parents who have suffered from stones or gout, it may make you slightly more susceptible to a kidney stone episode inb your life. There are simple steps you can take to alleviate this risk.

Drink water on a regular basis. Eight glasses spread evenly through the day and an extra one at bedtime.

Cut down on carbonated drinks.

Reduce your alcohol consumtion.

Eat more fruit and vegetables. Have at least one citrus fruit daily (oranges, lemons, grapefruit etc...) - kiwi fruit is also recommended, as is a glass of cranberry juice once every other day.

Take more gentle exercise. Try to take a daily 30 minute walk in a park or countryside - it's great for the spirit as well as your physical health.

Put a smile on your face. There is evidence that suggests that our moods can have an affect on our health. If you're feeling 'low', put on a funny DVD or tape and get smiling again.
